I have been a photographer in the Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky area for 10+ years now, mainly specializing in newborn, babies, and family photography and fine art. I am one of the lucky few I believe, that gets to say they genuinely love their job. Snuggling babies, making families happy when they see their finished products, and getting to tap into my artistic side, oh and being my own boss, has to be up there on the list of top best jobs to have!
But, this wasn’t always my career, and it definitely wasn’t something I aspired to be since I was a little girl; no fairy tale, “reached my lifelong dream goals” story here. I actually went to school to be a teacher and taught elementary school for 5 years before leaving to stay home with my first baby. The quick version of my story is that my husband bought me a camera for Christmas and all I wanted was to be able to take good-ish pictures of my son. I found an in-person class, taught at a local school, and my mom and I signed up together.
I quickly ate up everything I was taught! I started practicing and using my camera with a cute, little 2-year old model to be my muse. Eventually, I took some pictures for friends, family, and posted some of my work on social media. I had ZERO intention of being a professional photographer. I had no desire to start my own business. But it’s funny how God’s plan for your life are often not your own, and sometimes (most of the time) His are much much bigger and better than what you can dream up for yourself.
Fast forward 10 years later and here I am… a successful photography business and teaching the same classes that first started to pique my interest in photography all those years ago!
Alllll of that back story to answer the question above… CAN YOU LEARN TO DO WHAT THE PROS DO?

You do NOT need my story to learn to take amazing photos! Photography is such a growing interest these days. Long gone are the days where you need a degree and apprenticeship in a black room to take beautiful pictures! The digital world has made photography an attainable skill for anyone willing to learn and practice enough! If you have a DSLR camera but it seems to speak a foreign language to you; if you want to take better pictures of your kids/dog/food blog/vacations; or if you just want to pick up a new hobby, all 3 of the classes I offer can get you started down the right path to taking beautiful photos of any occasion!
